Abstract

Background: Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem caused by inadequate nutritional intake in the long term and repeated infections, especially in the first 1,000 days of life. This condition has an impact on the child's physical growth which is hampered and cognitive development is disrupted, so that it can affect the quality of human resources in the future. Lack of understanding regarding balanced nutritional intake, proper provision of breast milk and complementary foods, and low awareness of the importance of sanitation and health services are significant factors. Objective: To describe the level of knowledge of mothers before and after health education. Method: This scientific paper was conducted using a descriptive method. The were data collected by interview techniques, observation and documentation. Data collection was carried out during three visits to mothers who have stunted children. The instruments used were printed media and questionnaire sheets. Results: The assessment was conducted on respondents who had stunted children so that a diagnosis of knowledge deficit was found with health education nursing interventions. The action taken was health education about stunting for 20 minutes. The results after health education were obtained that the level of respondent knowledge increased with an average value of 83 (Enough). Recommendation: Conducting health education can increase knowledge in respondents with knowledge deficits
