Abstract

Background: Asthma is a chronic respiratory disease characterized by inflammation and narrowing of the bronchi, causing shortness of breath, coughing, and wheezing. One of the main problems is the ineffectiveness of the breathing pattern. Diaphragmatic Breathing Exercise therapy has been proven effective, but is still rarely applied. Objective: To describe the application of Diaphragmatic Breathing Exercise therapy in asthma patients with ineffective breathing patterns. Method: This study used descriptive study of three patients in the Emergency Room of Hj. Anna Lasmanah Banjarnegara Hospital. Therapy was given for at least 3 days, evaluated through respiratory rate and oxygen saturation. Results: There was a decrease in respiratory rate (>24x/minute to 20x/minute) and an increase in SpO₂ (90% to 98%). Symptoms of shortness of breath were significantly reduced. Recommendation: This therapy should be used as a standard intervention because it is effective, easy to implement, and increases patient comfort.
