Abstract
Background: the problem of this scientific paper is based on the high incidence of complications from Diabetes Mellitus (DM) in the elderly, which can be prevented through non-pharmacological approaches, one of which is diabetic foot exercise. Purpose: Provide an overview of nursing care through the application of diabetic foot exercises to help reduce blood glucose level in elderly patients with DM. Method: used a descriptive case study approach involving three elderly clients with DM. The intervention was carried out for three days, with foot exercises performed for approximately 25 minutes per session. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and blood glucose measurements. Results: the intervention showed a significant decrease in blood glucose level in all three clients, as well as an increase in awareness regarding foot care and independent management of DM. During the three days evaluation, they were found that diabetic foot exercise was effective in helping to lower blood glucose level and improve the quality of life of elderly clients. Recommendation: foot exercise can be applied as a non-pharmacological nursing intervention in the care of clients with DM.
