Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a collection of conditions in humans resulting from decreased insulin secretion which results in increased blood sugar levels and is usually motivated by insulin resistance. Diabetes mellitus sufferers tend to feel hopeless which results in a decrease in quality of life. So, family support is needed to improve the quality of life Objective: to find out whether diabetes mellitus patients with family support have a better quality of life at the Sadang Community Health Center Method: This thesis is a quantitative correlational study using a cross sectional approach with a sample of 40 diabetes mellitus patients who actively took prolanis at the Sadang Community Health Center. This research was conducted by giving questionnaires to respondents Result: The research carried out obtained results that for respondents who had high family support were 23 people (55.5%) and who had a high level of quality of life. However, there is also 1 person who has good family support but has a poor quality of life with a percentage of 0.5%. There were 8 people (20%) who had low family support but had a good quality of life, while the other 8 people (20%) had low family support and also had a poor quality of life Recommendation: The researcher hopes that future researchers can develop this research with different methods such as qualitative with different instruments to identify more deeply family support and quality of life or perhaps the respondents can be more varied with populations other than respondents who take routine prolanis
