Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a cardiovascular disease that is 69.5% highest in Indonesia experienced by the elderly and can cause complications in the form of pain, especially headaches. Untreated pain problems can reduce the quality of life of the elderly. Method: This scientific paper used a case study method on three elderly hypertensive clients with an approach, which included assessment, interviews, and observations with three elderly respondents who suffered from hypertension Results: The results obtained from the 3 clients showed a decrease in the pain scale by 1 scale per day and a decrease in blood pressure of around 5-10 mmHg per day. So it can be concluded that Light Massage therapy is effective because it has a positive and significant impact on reducing blood pressure and headaches to the nape of the neck in elderly Hypertension. Recommendation: Light Massage therapy is effective in reducing the intensity of headaches to the nape of the neck as a sign of symptoms in the elderly with hypertension. So it is necessary to integrate Light Massage therapy in gerontic nursing practice as a form of simple but effective intervention to reduce pain signs of hypertension symptoms.
