Abstract
Background: Hypertension is a widespread global health issue with high prevalence and serious consequences, including headaches. In Indonesia, the prevalence of hypertension reaches 34.1%. Neck massage therapy using olive oil has proven effective in alleviating headaches in hypertensive patients, providing a safe and practical solution for managing this condition. Objective: This study aims to analyze the nursing care for patients with urgent hypertension and the primary nursing diagnosis of acute pain, incorporating the innovation of neck massage therapy in the Emergency Department (ED) of RSI Banjarnegara. Methods: This research utilizes a descriptive method with a case study approach. The subjects of the study include five hypertensive patients experiencing acute pain. The instruments employed consist of a nursing care format, a Nursing Kit, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for neck massage intervention. Data analysis is performed descriptively and qualitatively, with results presented in tabular and narrative forms. Results: The assessment of hypertensive patients reveals that the primary complaint is acute pain in the back of the head. The priority nursing diagnosis is acute pain related to hypertension. Nursing interventions include pain scale assessment, vital signs measurement, and the administration of neck massage to alleviate pain. Implementation of care follows the same procedures: assessing pain scales, measuring vital signs, and providing neck massage. The evaluation indicates that neck massage, or Myofascial Release Therapy (MRT), is effective in reducing pain, relieving muscle tension, and enhancing overall comfort. Neck massage is proven effective in lowering pain in hypertensive patients. Conclusion: Neck massage therapy is an effective method for reducing pain in urgent hypertension patients, improving comfort, and significantly managing headache pain. Recommendations: It is recommended that neck massage therapy be incorporated into routine nursing interventions for hypertensive patients. Further research is encouraged to expand the understanding of its effectiveness in pain management.
