Abstract

Background: Post-SC pain inhibits the work of the posterior pituitary gland nerves that produce oxytocin. WHO recommends Early Initiation of Breastfeeding and exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months. The coverage of exclusive breastfeeding worldwide and in Indonesia is still low, so intervention is needed to increase breast milk production. Efforts that can be made are to stimulate the production of prolactin and oxytocin through breast massage. Objective: Describe the results of nursing care of the application of octane massage with olive oil in post-SC patients with ineffective breastfeeding problems in the Flamboyan Room of Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Hospital, Purwokerto. Method: This nursing case report used a case study design. The subjects were 5 post-SC patients with ineffective breastfeeding problems. Results: The assessment of 5 post-CS patients found that the main problem was ineffective breastfeeding. After Oketani massage using olive oil for 4 meetings, 5 patients had breast milk, and 1 patient’s breast milk did not come out very smoothly. Recommendation: The research results can be used as a reference and as an intervention to overcome ineffective breastfeeding in post-CS mothers.
