Abstract

Bacground: Diabetes is a disease that is still a major problem in global health, which not only affects physical aspects but also has a major impact on the psychological health of patients. Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus have a higher risk of experiencing diabetes distress. Objective: Find out of the relationship between the level of distress and therapeutic outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at RSUD Dr. Soedirman Kebumen. Methods: This study used quantitative method with correlational analysis design with cross sectional approach. The instrument was the Diabetes Distress Scale (DDS) questionnaire. The research subjects were 100 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at Dr. Soedirman Kebumen Hospital. Data analysis using Spearman's rho statistical test. Result: Spearman's rho statistical test obtained a p-value of 0.000, indicating that there is a relationship between the level of distress and therapy outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at RSUD Dr. Soedirman Kebumen. The correlation coefficient value of 0.494 indicates a moderate level of relationship strength and positive value. Conclusion: There is a relationship between the level of distress and therapy outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at RSUD Dr. Soedirman Kebumen with a moderate level of relationship strength, the more severe the level of distress, the worse the therapy outcomes. Reccomendations: Further research with a more robust design, such as a longitudinal or intervention study, as well as a broader scope is expected.
