Abstract

Background: Hypertension is the main risk factor for ischemic stroke. Inaccuracies in the use of antihypertensive drugs, such as inappropriate drug selection, dosage, and rules of use, can inhibit blood pressure reduction and worsen the patient's clinical condition. Therefore, the evaluation of the appropriateness of the use of antihypertensive drugs is very important in the management of ischemic stroke therapy. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the use of antihypertensive drugs in ischemic stroke patients based on the criteria of appropriate indication, appropriate medication, appropriate dose, and appropriate administration route at the Inpatient Installation of Prembun Regional General Hospital, Kebumen Regency in 2024. Methods: This study is a descriptive non-experimental study with retrospective data collection. Sampling was carried out in total sampling with a total of 80 patients who met the inclusion criteria undergoing antihypertensive treatment. Result: The results showed that the most commonly used drug combination was candesartan + amlodipine in 57 patients (71.25%). The accuracy of the indications reached 100%, the accuracy of the drug was 100%, the accuracy of the dose was 100%, the accuracy of the administration route was 100%, and the accuracy of the rules of use was 100%. Conclusion: The study of the use of antihypertensive drugs in ischemic stroke patients at Prembun Regional General Hospital has mostly met the accuracy of drug use with a total of 100% in accordance with PNPK standards (2019). Recommedations: The need for periodic evaluations by health workers, especially clinical pharmacists, to ensure the effectiveness and safety of antihypertensive therapy as a whole.
