Abstract

Background: Fracture treatment can be done with or without surgery, including immobilization, reduction and rehabilitation. Pain in fracture patients will increase with surgical procedures such as ORIF. Pharmacological pain management is by providing analgesic drug therapy, while non-pharmacological therapy is by using cold compress therapy (Cold Pack) and Lavender Aromatherapy which can cause several physiological effects, namely helping to calm and relax the central nervous system and make patients feel relaxed. Objective: to analyze nursing care for Post ORIF Upper Extremity Fracture patients with acute pain nursing problems using a combination of Cold Pack therapy and Lavender Aromatherapy at RSU PKU Muhammadiyah Kutowinangun. Method: The type of research is descriptive with a case study approach. The number of samples is five patients. The tools in this case study are the nursing care format, SOP Cold Pack and SOP Lavender Aromatherapy, pain scale assessment format before and after the procedure. The case study was carried out over three meetings. Data analysis was carried out in the form of frequency and percentage tables. Results: The results of the assessment showed that the five patients had the same problem, namely pain in the post-operative wound of the upper extremity fracture ORIF. The main nursing diagnosis is acute pain. The interventions carried out were pain management with non-pharmacological therapy, a combination of cold packs and lavender aromatherapy. Results After the combination of cold packs and lavender aromatherapy, the patient experienced a decrease in pain with an average decrease of 3 scales. Recommendation: A combination of cold packs and lavender aromatherapy can be recommended to reduce acute pain in patients with Post ORIF Upper Extremity Fractures.
