Abstract

Background: Hypoglycemia is a risk of a major condition commonly found in Diabetes Mellitus patients which is defined as blood glucose levels lower than 70 mg/dl (4.0 mmol/L), either with or without a Whipple test or symptoms of hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia generally results in headaches, dizziness, confusion, fatigue, weakness, difficulty concentrating, seizures, and coma due to a lack of glucose reaching the brain. Research Objectives: To determine the effectiveness of providing hypoglycemia education using audio-visual media on the level of knowledge of DM patients in the Gombong II PUSKESMAS work area Research Methods: This research is quantitative research with a single group pretest-posttest Quasy-experimental research design. Sampling used the total sampling method, with a total sample of 32 respondents. The research instruments used were questionnaires and videos. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon Test. Research Results: The Wilcoxon test results show a p-value of 0.000 (p-value <0.05), meaning there is effectiveness in using audio-visual media in increasing the knowledge of DM patients in the Gombong II Community Health Center working area. Conclusion: There is an effect of the provision of AudioVisual Media on the Knowledge Level of DM patients in the work area of the Gombong II Health Center Recommendation: For other researchers if further research is advised to conduct research using other media, and can use this educational media for another topic.
