Abstract

Background: Heart failure is a health problem with high morbidity and mortality rates in developed and developing countries, including Indonesia. CHF patients often have difficulty maintaining oxygenation so they tend to be short of breath. CHF can be treated with non-pharmacological therapy, one of which can be applied, namely the Slow Deep Breathing exercise technique. Objective: To explain nursing care for Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) Patients with Ineffective Breathing Patterns at Wonosobo Regional Hospital. Method: This scientific paper uses a descriptive case study design. The case study subjects were 5 CHF patients with nursing problems with ineffective breathing patterns. Data collection using observation techniques, interviews and documentation studies. Results: Evaluation of the five patients showed that after being given slow deep breathing exercise therapy the average respiratory frequency was 21 x/m, the highest was 24 x/m, oxygen saturation was 98%, the lowest was 97%. Before being given slow deep breathing exercise therapy, the average respiratory frequency was 24 x/m, the highest was 32 x/m, oxygen saturation was 96%, the lowest was 94%. Conclusion: The innovative action of the slow deep breathing exercise technique is effective in helping breathing patterns improve in CHF patients.
