Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a medical condition characterized by persistently elevated blood pressure, with systolic blood pressure greater than 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure greater than 90 mmHg. One of the common symptoms in hypertensive patients is neck pain, which can worsen the condition of hypertension and negatively impact the patient's quality of life. Warm compress therapy is one method that can be used to manage neck pain in hypertensive patients. General purpose: To analyze nursing care for hypertensive patients experiencing neck pain through the application of warm compress therapy at Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto Regional Hospital. Methods: This study used a descriptive method with a case study approach. The sample taken was 5 respondents. The instruments used included the medical surgical nursing care format, nursing kit, observation sheet, and standard operating procedure for the action. Warm compress therapy was applied for 3 consecutive days, once a day for 15 minutes, performed 6-7 hours after administration of antihypertensive and painkiller drugs. Nursing care results: The identified nursing problem is acute pain. The intervention carried out is warm compress therapy. After evaluation, it was found that 100% of the 5 respondents experienced a decrease in pain scale in neck pain after applying warm compress therapy for 3 days. Recommendation: Warm compress therapy has been proven effective in reducing pain scale in hypertensive patients with neck pain. It is recommended to apply this therapy as part of pain management in hypertensive patients in health facilities.
