Abstract

Background : Old age is an aging process with increasing age which is marked by a decline in the function of body organs which is marked by the increasing vulnerability of the body to various attacks of diseases that can cause death. One of the health problems in old age is hypertension. Health promotion about hypertension can increase knowledge and how to control blood pressure. Research purposes : Describes nursing care at the development stage of elderly families with hypertension. Method: This study uses a descriptive method and was conducted in 5 meetings. The data collection process was carried out using interview techniques, observation and physical examination. Respondents consisted of 5 foster families with one family member suffering from hypertension. Results: After health promotion about hypertension was carried out to families, there was an average increase in knowledge of 24 and families were able to control blood pressure. Conclusion : Health promotion about hypertension carried out in families can increase knowledge. Recommendation: It is hoped that further research can carry out new innovations related to providing attractive health promotions.
