Abstract

Background: Open Reduction and Internal Fixation (ORIF) is one of the treatment approaches used to manage femoral fractures. Postoperative monitoring of muscle strength plays a crucial role in the rehabilitation process to ensure optimal recovery. Manual Muscle Testing (MMT) serves as a simple and non-invasive method for evaluating patients’ muscle strength. Objective: This study aims to assess muscle strength in patients following ORIF femur surgery using the Manual Muscle Testing (MMT) method at the Orthopaedic Polyclinic of Siaga Medika Banyumas RSU. Method: This research employed a descriptive-analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected using MMT observation sheets. The study subjects were first-time follow-up patients after femoral ORIF at the Orthopaedic Clinic. Results: The study found that most patients experienced a gradual improvement in muscle strength during rehabilitation. Factors such as age, pre-injury activity levels, and adherence to physical therapy influenced the degree of muscle recovery. Conclusion: The findings indicated that most male respondents had moderate muscle strength 71 (75,5%) respondents. Among the age group of 31–40 years, 54 (62,8%) respondents exhibited moderate muscle strength, indicating better MMT outcomes in this group. Recommendation: Future research should incorporate objective measurement tools such as dynamometers or compare different rehabilitation strategies to obtain more comprehensive findings.
