Abstract

Background: Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease that often causes pain and limited mobility. One non-pharmacological intervention to reduce pain is Range of Motion (ROM) exercise. Objective: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Range of Motion (ROM) exercise in reducing pain intensity in patients with osteoarthritis at RSU Siaga Medika Banyumas. Methods: This research used a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design and a one-group pretest-posttest approach. Pain intensity was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) before and after ROM exercises in 35 respondents. Results: The results showed a decrease in pain intensity, with most participants experiencing a reduction from a pain score of 2 to scores of 0–1. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed a p-value of 0.000, indicating that ROM exercise was effective in reducing pain. Conclusion: ROM exercise has a significant effect on reducing pain in patients with osteoarthritis at RSU Siaga Medika Banyumas. Recommendation: It is recommended that Range of Motion (ROM) exercise be implemented as a routine intervention in managing osteoarthritis pain to improve patients’ quality of life.quality of life.
