Abstract
Background: Aging intheelderlyisoftenaccompaniedbyadeclineinphysicalabilities and independenceinperformingdailyactivities.Mobilityisanessentialaspectof maintaining qualityoflifeforgeriatricpatients,andfamilysupportplaysacrucialrolein rehabilitation andrecoveryprocesses.AtRSUDPrembun,astrongfamilialculture contributes tothelevelofsupportprovidedbyfamiliestogeriatricpatients. Objective: This studyaimstodeterminetherelationshipbetweenfamilysupportandthe mobility abilityofgeriatricpatientsatRSUDPrembun. Method: A correlationalstudywithacross-sectionalapproachwasconducted.Thesample consisted of85geriatricpatientsselectedusingpurposivesampling.TheFamilySupport Scale (FSS)questionnairewasusedtomeasurefamilysupport,whileageriatricmobility scale assessedpatientmobility.DatawereanalyzedusingtheChiSquarestatisticaltestto examine variablerelationships. Results: Most geriatricpatientsreceivedgoodfamilysupport(57.6%).Regardingmobility ability, 42.4%ofpatientswerecategorizedasindependent.Statisticalanalysisrevealeda significant associationbetweenfamilysupportandthemobilizationabilityofgeriatric patients atRSUDPrembun,χ²=43.2,p=0.001(p<0.05).Theresultsindicatethatgreater family supportisassociatedwithbettermobilizationabilityingeriatricpatients. Conclusion: There isasignificantandpositiverelationshipbetweenfamilysupportand the mobilityabilityofgeriatricpatientsatRSUDPrembun.Greaterfamilyinvolvement leads toimprovedpatientindependenceinmobility. Recommendation: Hospitals shoulddevelopeducationalandtrainingprogramsfor families toenhancetheirabilitytoprovideemotionalandinstrumentalsupporttogeriatric patients. Additionally,physicalrehabilitationinterventionsinvolvingactivefamily participation arerecommendedtoimprovepatientmobility.Futurestudiesareadvisedto use longitudinalapproachestoexplorevariabledynamicsmoredeeply.
