Abstract

Background: The rate of Caesarean section (CS) deliveries continues to increase globally, including at the Regional General Hospital of Prembun, Kebumen Regency. Several risk factors such as preeclampsia, prolonged labor, premature rupture of membranes, breech fetal presentation, previous CS history, and failed induction are suspected to contribute to this increase. Objective: To determine the association between these factors and the incidence of CS deliveries at the Regional General Hospital of Prembun during January– December 2024. Method: This study employed an analytical observational design with a case- control approach. A total of 82 postpartum mothers were divided into two groups: cases (CS deliveries) and controls (normal deliveries). Data were collected from electronic medical records and analyzed using Chi-Square tests. Results: All variables showed a significant relationship with the incidence of cesarean section. The p-values for each variable were as follows: preeclampsia (p = 0.031), prolonged labor (p = 0.010), premature rupture of membranes (p = 0.047), breech presentation (p = 0.000), history of cesarean section (p = 0.001), and failed induction(p = 0.004). Conclusion: There is a significant association between preeclampsia, prolonged labor, premature rupture of membranes, breech fetal presentation, previous CS history, and failed induction with the incidence of CS deliveries. Recommendation: Future research is recommended to expand the scope of other contributing variables to the decision of delivery method
