Abstract

Background: Bronchopneumonia is a secondary infection that is usually caused by the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Haemophilus influenza which enter the respiratory tract, causing inflammation of the bronchi and alveoli. The infectious process of bronchopneumonia causes several signs and symptoms which can cause several nursing problems, one of which is hyperthermia. Water tepid sponge is a technique for lowering body temperature by wiping parts of the body, especially in the folds, this procedure uses the principles of evaporation and conduction to increase control of heat loss Purpose:Describe the results of the analysis of hyperthermia nursing care in children with a medical diagnosis of bronchopneumonia and the interventions provided water tepid sponge in the AR Fakhrudin Room at PKU Muhammadiyah Sruweng Hospital. Results: From the results of nursing care that has been carried out on the five patients, it was found that the nursing problems were resolved, namely that the five patients experienced a significant decrease in body temperature, with the highest temperature decrease occurring in Patient 1 with an average temperature decrease of 0.9ºC, and the lowest average temperature decrease occurred in Patient 2, namely 0.3ºC, and it was concluded that the provision ofwater tepid spongeeffective in lowering body temperature in bronchopneumonia patients with hyperthermia nursing problems. Recommendation: It is hoped that future researchers will be able to examine giving water tepid sponge in patients with febrile seizures.
