Abstract

Background : Hallucinationsaresensoryperceptiondisorderscommonlyexperiencedby patients withmentalillnesses.Predisposingfactorssuchasbiological,psychological,and social conditions,alongwithprecipitatingfactorssuchaspsychologicalstress,sleep patterns, andpsychoactivesubstanceuse,caninfluencetheoccurrenceofhallucinations. Objective : Thisstudyaimstodescribethepredisposing-precipitatingfactorsand symptoms ofhallucinationpatientsintheAlAfiyatWardofRSPKUMuhammadiyah Gombong. Method : Theresearchdesignusedadescriptiveobservationalapproach.Thesample consisted of60respondentsselectedusingtotalsamplingtechnique.Datawerecollected through questionnairesanddirectobservationinthefield.Datawereanalyzeddescriptively to illustratethedistributionofpredisposingfactors,precipitatingfactors,andsymptomsof hallucinations. Results : Mostpatientswerewithintheyoungadulttopre-elderlyagerange(17–39years), totaling 42respondents(70%).Malegenderwasdominantwith38respondents(63.3%). Middle socioeconomicstatuswasfoundin34respondents(56.7%),withthelast educational levelbeingjuniorhighschoolfor24respondents(40%).Atotalof33 respondents (55%)wereunemployed,34respondents(56.7%)wereunmarried,and55 respondents (91.7%)livedwiththeirfamilies.Auditoryhallucinationswerethemost common type,reportedby53respondents(88.3%),andallpatientswereintheearlyphase of hallucination.Theintensityofhallucinationsymptomswaspredominantlymoderate, with 35respondents(58.3%).Themainpredisposingfactorwasbiologicalfactors(50%), while thedominantprecipitatingfactorwasalsobiological(51.7%). Conclusion : Biologicalandpsychologicalfactorswerethemostinfluentialpredisposing factors forhallucinations.Mostpatientsexperiencedhallucinationsymptomswith moderate intensity,indicatingtheneedforappropriateinterventionstoimprovepatient quality oflife. Recommendation : ItisrecommendedtodevelopGroupActivityTherapy(TAK)programs periodically aspartofnon-pharmacologicalapproachestohelppatientsmanagetheir hallucination symptoms.
