Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a continuous increase in blood pressure in the blood arteries. In many countries, including Indonesia, hypertension or high blood pressure has ranked at the top of the list of non-communicable diseases. Purpose: to determine the effect of ergonomic exercise on reducing high blood pressure in elderly individuals experiencing hypertension. Methods: This research is a quasi-experimental design study using a pre-test and post-test design with two groups, or a monitoring of the control group. The sample used was obtained through total sampling with a total of 30 respondents. Results: Based on the research results on the research group, a p value of 0.000 (P<0.05) was obtained between before and after, which means there is an effect of ergonomic exercise on lowering blood pressure. Meanwhile, in the control group, a p Value of 0.470 (p>0.05) was obtained between before and after, which means there is no effect on lowering blood pressure. Conclusion: There is an influence between before and after performing ergonomic exercises on blood pressure reduction. Recommendation: Future researchers are expected to study the eating patterns of hypertension patients in relation to blood pressure reduction.
