Abstract

Background: Volume depletion, or decreased fluid volume in the body, is a condition that can occur in children due to various factors, including excessive fluid loss. Identifying and managing volume depletion in children is very important, considering its impact which can lead to serious complications if left untreated. Objective: This study aims to identify the level of parental anxiety in cases of children with volume depletion. Method: The study design used a descriptive analytical approach. The sample consisted of 114 respondents selected through a purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the chi square test. Results: The characteristics of most children who experience volume depletion are aged 7-12 months as many as 43 respondents (37.7%), parents' age 26-35 years as many as 58 respondents (50.9%) and parents' education is mostly high school as many as 78 respondents (68.4%), and the relationship between parents and children is Mother as many as 89 respondents (78.1%). The level of parental anxiety is mostly moderately anxious as many as 55 respondents (48.2%). The relationship between respondent characteristics and parental anxiety in cases of children with volume depletion includes age, education, gender. While the characteristics of parental relationships do not correlate with parental anxiety in cases of children with volume depletion at Wijayakusuma Hospital, Kebumen Conclusion: The level of parental anxiety in cases of children with volume depletion is mostly moderately anxious Recommendation: It is recommended that nurses increase their role in order to reduce the level of parental anxiety.
