Abstract

Background: Herniatomy involves cutting the hernia sac and tying it, while herniorrhaphy involves repairing the defect with mesh placement through open surgery. Post-hernia surgery often presents with pain caused by the incision, which can be manifested by pain expressions, changes in vital signs, and activity limitations. Objective: This study aims to analyze the nursing care of post-operative herniatomy patients with pain problems, treatment, and the implementation of progressive measures for muscle relaxation at Siaga Medika General Hospital, Banyumas. Methods: This study used a case study design. The sample size was 5 individuals. Results: Analysis of observations before and after the Progressive Muscle Relaxation Technique (PRM) is a strategy to promote relaxation through stretching and relaxing muscles for 20-30 minutes. Recommendation: Progressive muscle relaxation techniques are effective in managing post-operative pain in herniatomy patients.
