Abstract

Background: Elderly or senior citizens are individuals aged 60 years and over. The population of elderly people in Kebumen Regency with an age range of 60-79 years reaches 245,414 people from the total population. Support provided by the family is an important element in helping elderly individuals carry out daily activities. Lack of family support can cause decreased concentration, feelings of isolation, depression, and feelings of uselessness for the elderly. Aim: The purpose of this study was to determine family support for the elderly in the Karanganyar Health Center Work Area. Method: This study is a quantitative descriptive study using a survey method. Data were collected from 100 elderly people aged 60 years and over in Wonorejo village within the working area of Karanganyar Health Center using the Family Support Scale (FSS) questionnaire for elderly people. Result: Family support for the elderly in the Karanganyar Health Center work area is in the low category of informational support 55 people, assessment support 48 people, instrumental support 62 people, emotional support 53 people. Conclusion: Family support for the elderly in the Karanganyar Health Center work area is in the low category. Recommendation: It is hoped that further researchers can add other variables such as quality of life, elderly care, and compliance with health checks.
