Abstract
Background: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder with a global prevalence of 589 million by 2025 and 20.4 million in Indonesia by 2024. Family emotional support plays a crucial role in improving patient motivation and adherence to diabetes management. Research Purposive: This study aimed to determine the relationship between family emotional support and type 2 diabetes management. Research Method: This study employed a quantitative correlation method with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 42 respondents with type 2 diabetes who actively participated in the Prolanis program at the Puring Community Health Center. Research results: Most respondents had good family emotional support and diabetes mellitus management, with a strong and significant relationship based on Spearman's rho test (r = 0.655; p < 0.001). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between family emotional support and type 2 diabetes management. The higher the family support, the better the patient's ability to manage the disease and prevent complications. Recommendations: Healthcare workers need to increase family involvement in patient education and support, and further research is recommended to include other support variables and psychological factors in diabetes mellitus management.
