Abstract

Background: BBLR condition the baby’s birth weight is >2500 grams, so it must be treated as most babies are not ready to live outside the womb. This condition can cause stress for the mother, because the baby is sick and has difficulty breathing, the baby is attached to scary medical equipment, the baby is small and separated from the baby. Research Objective: To find out an factors related to stress in mothers of BBLR babies at Dr. Soedirman Kebumen. Research Method: Descriptive analytical research with a correlation design using a cross sectional approach. Samples used a consecutive sampling technique of 69 respondents. The research instrument used a questionnaire measuring scale for maternal stress in infants (PSS; NICU). Data were analyzed using the Anova test with a significant p <0.05. Research Results: Most of the respondents maternal age was <35 years as many as 47 mothers (47%), gestation age was 35-36 weeks as many as 56 mothers (81%), health conditions with respiratory problems were 44 mothers (63%), brith weight of the baby was 1500-2499 grams of 58 babies (84%), which was not related between maternal age and maternal stress p value >0.414, baby health condition and maternal stress p value >0.053, baby weight and maternal stress p value >0.072, and there was a relationship between gestational age with stress p value <0.011. Conclusion: Factors associated with gestational age are stress in BBLR mothers with a p value <0.011. Recommendation: Future research is expected to examine the relationship between family support and stress among mothers of BBLR babies.
