Abstract

Background: When entering old age, individuals are often faced with various changes as a result of declining organ function and the aging process. Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is one of the degenerative diseases of the joints caused by inflammation of connective tissue, especially in the joints and often occurs in the elderly. Objective: Presenting an analysis of nursing care in patients with Rheumatoid Arhritis with nursing problems of family health management is ineffective. Method: This research uses a case study method. The subject of this study is patient 5 Rheumatoid Arthritis at the Sempor II Health Center in accordance with the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: The focus of the activity provided was a warm red ginger compress. The results of a comprehensive assessment of the five managed families showed that the families were unable to properly care for sick family members. The main family nursing diagnosis is Ineffective Family Health Management. The intervention is to apply a warm red ginger compress. Nursing implementation is carried out for 1 month 3 times a week for 15-20 minutes every morning and evening. Nursing evaluation on the 30th day revealed that the majority of patients experienced a decrease in the pain scale with the average pain scale before the procedure being 3.4 and after the procedure being 1.4 and the family was able to care for the patient well and the patient was able to change their health pattern for the better. Conclusion: The results of the nursing action in the form of warm red ginger compresses in the five managed families can be concluded that there is an effect of giving warm red ginger compresses on pain complaints of Rheumatoid Arthritis patients so that it can be used as complementary therapy in patients. Recommendation: It is hoped that families will be able to help provide further care for family members who are sick and support the activities that have been taught, namely warm red ginger compresses.
