Abstract

Background : Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a disease caused by the dengue virus transmitted through the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. In 2024, the number of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever cases reached 6,157 with a mortality rate of 2.2%. The high incidence of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever is closely related to community behavior and environmental conditions, which are influenced by levels of knowledge, attitudes, and practices in maintaining environmental cleanliness. Research Purpose : The purpose of this study is to determine the community’s behavior in reducing the risk of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever in Panjer Village. Method : This research uses quantitative descriptive research with a cross-sectional method. The sample in this study was 97 respondents in Panjer Village. Result : The majority of respondents were over 47 years old (61.9%) and male (92.8%). Most respondents had a secondary level of education (70.1%). The majority possessed good knowledge (73.2%) and generally positive attitudes (37.1%). However, Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever prevention practices were still considered low (48.5%). Conclusion : Heads of households are predominantly men over the age of 47 with a secondary level of education. Community behavior is mostly in the moderate category with 49 people (50.5%), followed by ‘low’ with 46 people (47.4%), and ‘good’ with 2 people (2.1%). Recommendation : It is hoped that future research can explore more deeply the environmental factors influencing the low levels of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever prevention practices. Enhancing community knowledge, attitudes, and practices is essential to promote greater awareness and more effective preventive actions.
