Abstract

Background: Toddler nutrition remains a public health issue that impacts child growth and development. Maternal nutritional care is a crucial factor in determining toddler nutritional status. Objective: To determine the relationship between maternal nutritional care and toddler nutritional status in Pekuwon Village, Kebumen Regency. Method: This quantitative study used a cross-sectional design with 75 mothers of toddlers aged 6–60 months, using total sampling. Data on nutritional care were collected through questionnaires and nutritional status through weight-for-age measurements, then analyzed using a chi-square test. Results: Most mothers (44.0%) had good nutritional care and toddlers with normal nutritional status (44.0%). The chi-square test showed a significant relationship between maternal nutritional care and toddler nutritional status (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Maternal nutritional care is significantly associated with toddler nutritional status. Good nutritional care plays a role in supporting normal toddler nutritional status. Recommendations: Further research should include other factors that could potentially influence toddler nutritional status, such as family income and the child's history of infectious diseases. Furthermore, measuring nutritional intake through food recalls is recommended for 24-hour periods on non-consecutive days.
