Abstract

Background: By 2025, the number of hypertension cases worldwide is expected to continue increasing over time, potentially reaching 1.5 billion cases. Hypertension is a major risk factor for diabetes, heart disease, and kidney failure. One of the most common complaints among hypertensive patients is pain, often triggered by vasoconstriction, which alters blood vessel structures, increases cerebral blood flow resistance, and leads to headaches and other clinical manifestations. Objective: To analyze nursing care for hypertensive patients experiencing acute pain using SEFT (Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique) therapy. Research Method: This study employed a descriptive method with a case study approach, involving five hypertensive patients experiencing pain. The inclusion criteria were patients with stage 1 hypertension, aged ≥ 55 years, and experiencing mild to moderate pain levels. Data were collected using a psychiatric nursing care format and measured using the NRS (Numeric Rating Scale) pain assessment instrument, the SEFT therapy SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) for innovative intervention, and an observation sheet to assess pain levels and blood pressure before and after therapy. Results: After the SEFT therapy intervention, there was a reduction in both pain levels and blood pressure. Objective evaluations using the NRS instrument showed a decrease in pain scale from 4-6 (moderate pain) to 1-3 (mild pain). Conclusion: The findings of this nursing care study indicate that SEFT (Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique) therapy effectively reduces pain levels and blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Recommendation: Hospitals, healthcare professionals, and families are encouraged to utilize SEFT therapy as an effective method for reducing pain and blood pressure in hypertensive patients.
