Abstract

Background: Diarrheal diseases remain a leading cause of death worldwide. The onset of diarrhea can occur due to a variety of factors, both direct and indirect. These causes include pathogens, hosts, lifestyle patterns, and environmental conditions. A complementary management approach applied to reduce the frequency of bowel movements is baby massage. General Objective: To present nursing care for children with diarrhea, focusing on the nursing problem of fecal elimination disturbances through the application of baby massage. Method: This study employs a case study design. The respondents are five children with diarrhea at RSU Agishna Medika Kroya. The baby massage intervention is conducted twice daily, in the morning and afternoon, over a period of three days. Results of Nursing Care: After the baby massage intervention over three days, the frequency of bowel movements in all five patients decreased to 2-3 times within 24 hours, stool consistency changed to soft, and intestinal peristalsis decreased to less than 15 times per minute. Recommendation: Baby massage is recommended as an evidence-based nursing intervention that is beneficial in reducing the frequency of bowel movements in patients with diarrhea.
