Abstract

Background: Bronchopneumonia is the most common clinical manifestation of pneumonia in the pediatric population, and the main cause of death in children under 5 years of age. The inflammatory process of bronchopneumonia causes clinical symptoms in the form of increased secretion production which causes various problems, such as ineffective airway clearance. Giving eucalyptus oil steam inhalation therapy aims to provide a bronchodilation effect or widen the lumen of the bronchi, the phlegm becomes thin making it easier to expel, reduces bronchial hyperactivity and can overcome infections. Objective: Explaining nursing care for bronchopneumonia patients with ineffective airway clearance nursing problems in the Aster Room at RSUD Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto Explains Nursing Care for Bronchopneumonia Patients with Ineffective Airway Cleaning Nursing Problems in the Aster Room at RSUD Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto Method: The research design used a descriptive method with a case study of pediatric bronchopneumonia patients with the main nursing problem, namely ineffective airway clearance related to retained secretions with eucalyptus oil vapor therapy. Results: The results of a study on 5 patients with bronchopneumonia who experienced problems with ineffective airway clearance after being given hot steam therapy with eucalyptus oil showed changes and effectiveness, namely a decrease in dyspnea and respiration, decreased sputum production, and decreased additional breath sounds Recommendation: The results of nursing care can increase the mother's knowledge in caring for children who have coughing problems and cannot produce sputum with eucalyptus oil steam therapy
