Abstract

Background: Craniotomy is a neurosurgical procedure involving the removal of a section of the skull to address masses or hematomas in the brain. It is performed on patients with severe head injuries, brain tumors, or vascular abnormalities in the brain. Post-craniotomy patients have surgical wounds, drainage tubes, and catheters. The drainage tube in the head can affect activity/mobilization. Immobility can lead to restricted movement. One way to address mobility issues is through passive range of motion (ROM). General purpose: To explain nursing care using passive range of motion (ROM) for post-craniotomy patients with physical mobility issues. Methods: This scientific work uses a descriptive research type in the form of a case study. A sample of 5 respondents was taken. Muscle strength was measured using a Manual Muscle Testing (MMT) observation sheet. The intervention performed was passive range of motion (ROM). Nursing care results: The nursing issue addressed in this study was physical mobility disorders. The intervention used was passive ROM. Implementation was conducted over 2 sessions, with each passive ROM action lasting about 6-10 minutes. Evaluation results from the five clients showed an improvement in muscle strength. Recommendations: The innovation of using passive ROM proved effective in enhancing muscle strength in post-craniotomy patients.
