Abstract
Background: The elderly is a 60-year-old person consisting of the elderly (60 - 74), the elderly (74-90), the very old elderly (>90), in Indonesia there is an increase in the elderly by 11.75%, in the province of Central Java 4.86 million elderly, the number of elderly people in Purworejo is 13.07%. The problem experienced by the elderly is the change in memory (dementia) and for prevention, namely with puzzle therapy to slow down the cognitive onset in the elderly who experience memory disorders. Purpose: To analyze nursing care for elderly people with dementia in the application of puzzle therapy to overcome the problem of memory disorders in Baledono Jurang, Village, Purworejo District. Research Methods: Using a case study approach on 5 elderly people with dementia in Baledono Jurang Village, Purworejo Regency. Using a case study approach on 5 elderly people with dementia in Baledono Jurang Village, Purworejo Regency, using MMSE questionnaires and observation sheets Results: The average MMSE score before the intervention was 18.4 and after the intervention and puzzle therapy, the averageMMSE score in the elderly with dementia was 24.2 as reported in the results of the study conducted on the five respondents for 3 meetings in one week on theMMSE assessment after therapy was administered. Conclusion: The results of the study can be concluded that the application of puzzle therapy in the elderly with dementia has an influence in improving the cognitive level of the elderly with an MMSE value of 4-5 points after being given puzzle therapy. Recomendation: For the community, it is hoped that this research can be used as a reference in providing technology and knowledge related to nursing or health and among others for the elderly with dementia.
