Abstract
Background: Hypertensive patients need to adopt a healthy lifestyle to prevent complications and reduce the risk of death. Success in adopting a healthy lifestyle is greatly influenced by self-efficacy, which is the patient's belief in their ability to consistently implement and maintain healthy lifestyle behaviors. Objective: To analyze the correlation between self-efficacy and adherence to a healthy lifestyle in hypertension patients at Prolanis Petanahan Health Center. Methods: This research used a quantitative descriptive correlational method using a cross-sectional research design, with total sampling. The sample size was 118 respondents with hypertension in the Prolanis Public Health Center of Petanahan and Ampelsari Village. Collecting data used 10-questions self-efficacy questionnaires and 15-questions healthy lifestyle adherence questionnaires. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis using Spearman Rank. Results: The results of this study showed that 118 (100%) respondents had a good or high level of self-efficacy, as indicated by a score above the minimum threshold (>13). A total of 84 (71.2%) respondents were categorized as compliant with a healthy lifestyle, while 34 (28.8%) respondents were categorized as less compliant. There is a significant correlation between self-efficacy and adherence to a healthy lifestyle with a correlation coefficient value of r = +0.705 with a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) <0.001 (p value <0.05). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between self-efficacy and adherence to a healthy lifestyle in hypertensive patients. Recommendation: For further research, it is recommended that this present study can be used as a consideration and learning material so that it can be further developed to integrate self-efficacy improvement interventions through education and counselling to improve patient compliance.
