Abstract

Background: Chronic diseases experienced by patients are often closely related to mental health disorders. Effective management of chronic diseases is very important to prevent and reduce the negative impact on mental health so that early detection is needed. Objective: To determine early detection of the mental health status of patients with chronic diseases in the UPTD Puskesmas Bawang 1 Banjarnegara area. Methods: This study used descriptive quantitative research methods. The population is all patients who experience chronic diseases. The sample method uses purpose sampling, while the number of samples is 307 patients analyzing data using SPSS, frequency and percentage. Results: The majority of the age of the early elderly (46-55 years) amounted to 100 (32.6%), the majority of female gender amounted to 235 (76.5%), the majority of junior high school education level amounted to 152 (49.5%), for the most work status with not working 201 (65.5%), married status with marriage amounted to 254 (82.7%) and the most length of illness with more than 3 years 179 (58.3%). There is the most mental health status with the criteria of no indication with an average score of 3 with a total of 257 (83.7%). Conclusion: The importance of improving comprehensive and sustainable mental health services, especially for groups at risk of or already experiencing mental disorders. Recommendation: The puskesmas and its health workers can improve mental health programs and services, especially for groups that have been indicated to have mental health problems.
