Abstract

Background: There are 50%-90% cases of vomiting nausea in Indonesia suffered by pregnant mothers. This problem may have negative effects for them, such as dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, venous hypertension and bleeding, esophageal rupture. In addition, they may have severe dehydration as the consequence. Therefore, apropertreatmentis needed to overcome the problem. The no side-effect way is by applying non-pharmacological technique, such as lemon inhaling aromatherapy. Objective: To know the effect of giving lemon inhaling aromatherapy to reduce vomiting nausea in trimester 1 pregnancy. Method: This study is an analytic descriptive with case study approach. The writer describes the facts of the assessment obtained from interviews and direct observation. Result: After being given lemon inhaling aromatherapy, the vomiting nausea frequency was decreasing - 4 times to be twice (participant 1 and 2), 5 times to be 3 times (participant 3). Conclusion: Giving lemon inhaling aromatherapy can reduce the frequency of vomiting nausea in trimester 1 pregnancy in Independent Midwifery Clinic of Istianatul in Kebumen.
