Abstract
Background: Foot pain in post-cesarean section mothers represents a common physiological disruption. Physiological mechanisms such as fluid accumulation (edema), spinal anesthesia effects, and venous stasis contribute to this pain. This condition interferes with maternal comfort, rest, and the recovery process. Non-pharmacological treatments, including foot massage techniques, offer a safe and effective alternative. Objective: This study aims to analyze nursing care for post-cesarean section mothers using foot massage techniques to reduce pain. Methods: This research employed a descriptive method with a case study approach. The instruments included nursing care formats, pain assessment sheets, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and observation sheets. The intervention was performed for three consecutive days. Results: Five patients presented with acute pain related to physiological injury agents as the primary nursing problem. The intervention consisted of pain management with foot massage as the main action. The therapy was implemented for three days, 2–3 times per day, with each session lasting approximately 10 minutes. The evaluation showed that all patients experienced a reduction in pain scores from moderate to severe (4–7) to mild (1–2). These results indicate that the nursing goals—reduced pain complaints, decreased grimacing expressions, and reduced anxiety—were achieved. Recommendation: Nurses may apply foot massage as a non-pharmacological therapy. This method effectively enhances comfort and reduces pain levels in postpartum mothers.
