Abstract

Background: Ischemic stroke occurs due to blockage of blood vessels and lack of oxygen in the blood, causing nerve disorders in the brain and can affect memory. There are several ways to improve short-term memory, one of which is using picture therapy (puzzle). Objective: To explain nursing care for ischemic stroke with a nursing diagnosis of memory disorders using brain game (puzzle) picture matching interventions at Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Hospital. Methods: This case study uses a descriptive method involving 5 patients who experienced ischemic stroke who experienced memory disorders. Data obtained using observation sheets and MMSE questionnaires which is then assessed to establish the diagnosis, then the action given is the application of matching images using puzzles. Results: After implementing the puzzle intervention The results obtained showed an increase in the ability of patients and families in applying puzzle application techniques and the level of orientation before and after therapy was applied, where five patients experienced an increase in orientation and memory, improved general condition, and were able to apply therapy with assistance. Conclusion: The results of this case study show differences in the level of orientation and memory as well as the ability of patients and families to apply puzzle therapy before and after therapy is given. Recommendation: Implementation in overcoming memory disorders is recommended to be carried out consistently to improve orientation and memory.
