Abstract
Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a serious public health problem in Indonesia, including in rural areas. The number of DHF cases in Somagede Village from January to October 2025 was recorded at 19 cases. DHF prevention largely depends on the active role of families as the smallest unit in society, particularly through the implementation of the 3M Plus Mosquito Nest Eradication program, the use of repellents, and larval monitoring. However, DHF prevention practices at the family level have not yet been optimally and evenly implemented. Purpose: This study aimed to describe family practices in dengue prevention in Somagede Village. Methods: This study employed a descriptive research design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of families living in Somagede Village, with a total sample of 94 respondents selected using a non-random sampling technique. The research instrument was a questionnaire measuring family practices in dengue prevention. Data analysis was conducted using univariate analysis to describe the frequency and percentage distribution of each research variable. Results: The results showed that the majority of respondents had good practices in mosquito breeding site eradication (3M Plus) (75.5%), good practices in the use of repellents (90.4%), and poor practices in larval monitoring (72.3%). Conclusion: Overall, the majority of respondents had family practices in dengue prevention that were classified as poor, with 57 respondents (60.6%). Recommendations: Future researchers are expected to expand this study by examining the relationship between family characteristics and dengue prevention practices. In addition, future studies may include other factors such as home environmental conditions, housing density, the role of healthcare workers, and community habits that may influence dengue prevention efforts.
