Abstract
Background: Fever in children is a natural response to infection which, if not treated promptly, can trigger serious complications such as febrile seizures. The case of An. M (2 years 10 months) showed a severe hyperthermic condition reaching 40.5°C with a diagnosis of complex febrile seizures, requiring immediate thermoregulation management. Objective: To explain nursing care through the application of an innovative combination of Aloe vera compress and Water Tepid Sponge (WTS) to stabilize body temperature. Method: This study used a descriptive case study design over three days. The intervention was performed by wiping the body with tepid water and applying aloe vera gel to areas over major blood vessels for 15–20 minutes. Results: The care outcomes showed a significant decrease in body temperature from 40.5°C to 36.9°C, along with the resolution of flushing and tachycardia symptoms in the patient. This effectiveness is supported by the conduction mechanism of aloe vera gel and vasodilation from the WTS technique, which accelerates heat release. Recommendations: The family is advised to apply this combination technique independently at home as an initial step in fever management to prevent extreme temperature rises that trigger recurrent seizures. The hospital institution is expected to legitimize the use of a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for this combination therapy as an integrative complementary therapy option in pediatric care units. Future researchers are recommended to conduct more in-depth comparative studies to evaluate the effectiveness of this therapy on the length of hospital stay in a broader pediatric population.
