Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease caused by the pancreas not producing enough insulin. This disease can be called a chronic disease because it can occur on a chronic basis. Based on the cause, Diabetes Mellitus is classified into three types namely type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, and gestational diabetes, Macroangiopathy is a serious complication in diabetes mellitus characterized by atherosclerosis of large blood vessels and the formation of atheroma plaques, The main macrovascular complications include coronary heart disease, stroke, and peripheral arterial disease. Research Objectives: to determine Risk Factors that affect Macrovascular Complications in Diabetes Mellitus Patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Methods:The research method used was analytical observational with a cross sectional design, the number of samples was 62 with non-probability sampling techniques in determining the sample using the slovin formula, Researchers used research instruments in the form of Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8) questionnaires, questionnaires The risk level of macrovascular complications, calculating nutritional status based on body mass index IMT and blood pressure checks, Data analysis using Chi Square correlation test. Results: The results of this study found that there was no relationship between adherence to taking medication (0.686>0.005), there was a relationship between high blood pressure, BMI with the risk of macrovascular complications in Diabetes Mellitus patients (ρ value 0,003: 0,026)
