Abstract

Background: Cold Chain Products (CCP) are a type of pharmaceutical preparation that requires strict handling because storage is carried out at a temperature range of 2–8°C. Temperature deviations that may occur during the storage process can affect product quality and result in financial losses. The distribution of CCP products to pharmaceutical facilities is carried out through Pharmaceutical Wholesalers. General Objective: This study aims to evaluate the compliance of Cold Chain Product (CCP) storage at Penta Valent Pharmaceutical Wholesaler (PBF) in Purwokerto. Methods: The study was conducted using observation and interview methods. Sampling was performed using purposive sampling, with the primary respondents being the pharmacists in charge of the pharmaceutical department at the PBF. The sample used consisted of temperature recordings from a data logger over a one-month period. Results and Discussion: The cold chain storage of products conducted by PBF Penta Valent Purwokerto complies with CDOB Standard No. 20 of 2025. The cold chain storage facility is equipped with chillers and refrigerators capable of maintaining a temperature range of 2–8°C during storage. It is equipped with data loggers to accurately monitor temperature during storage, and a generator as a backup power source. Storage operations include temperature monitoring conducted three times a day with temperature recording, and Cold Chain Products are spaced out to maximize even air circulation. Maintenance is performed using a defrost system on the chiller and an auto-defrost system on the refrigerator. Temperature monitoring results based on the data logger showed 100% compliance with the temperature storage requirements for Cold Chain Products. Recommendation: It is necessary to implement a documentation process for facility maintenance involving the defrost system to ensure traceability and demonstrate compliance with established maintenance procedures.
