Abstract
Background: Hospitalization may cause anxiety. Pre-school children being hospitalized often react to hospitalization by rejecting nursing intervention and they are not cooperative with nurses. One of the interventions to reduce hospitalization stress is playing therapy. Ojective: Describing the nursing care of children by applying a therapy by playing play-dough to improve the cooperative level of patient in a hospital. Method: This study in an analytical descriptive with case study approach. The writer describes the existing particular situation at present time based on the existing problems so as to produce a well-organized and complete description. The subject was an uncooperative pre-school kid and the data presentation is in text and frequency distribution tables. Result: After 3 days playing play-dough, the client's cooperative level was increasing, i.e. 27.6% (before playing) to be 72.4%. Discussion: The reaction of the client to hospitalization is refusing to eat, often asking, crying slowly, being uncooperative with nurses (health workers). Playing play-dough therapy may improve the cooperative level of the client during hospitalization. Conclusion: Playing play-dough therapy is effective to increase the client's cooperative level.
