Abstract
Background: Drug storage is the process of placing and maintaining pharmaceutical preparations to preserve product quality and facilitate tracking and supervision. Improper or inefficient storage can lead to unmonitored expired drugs, resulting in financial losses for the pharmacy. According to Ministry of Health Regulation (Permenkes) No. 73 of 2016, storage systems must prioritize grouping based on therapeutic class, dosage form, and alphabetical order, while applying FEFO (First Expired, First Out) and FIFO (First In, First Out) principles in drug distribution. Evaluating drug storage is a priority, as damaged or expired medications can decrease stability, cause toxic effects, and harm the pharmacy's operations. General Objective: To evaluate the drug storage system at Menmari Pharmacy, Banyumas Regency. Research Methods: This study employs an observational method with descriptive and evaluative approaches. The purpose of this method is to observe ongoing activities at Menmari Pharmacy, Banyumas Regency. The descriptive approach aims to explain and illustrate the current processes, while the evaluative approach is used to assess the compliance of those processes with applicable guidelines. Research Results: The evaluation results at Menmari Pharmacy, based on Permenkes No. 73 of 2016 and Permenkes No. 9 of 2017, indicate that drug storage procedures are functioning well, with over 75% compliance with pharmaceutical service standards. However, several aspects require improvement, such as upgrading room temperature monitoring facilities, providing specialized areas and systems for medical waste management, reorganizing the storage of high-alert medications to reduce the risk of picking errors, and physically separating drug storage areas from administrative archives.
