Abstract

Background: Cesarean section (CS) is a commonly surgical procedure that has potential to cause postoperative pain, which may interfere with maternal comfort and recovery. Pain management can be achieved through both pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches, including Benson relaxation therapy and lemongrass aromatherapy. Objectif: This study aimed to describe nursing care using the application of Benson relaxation therapy and lemongrass aromatherapy to reduce pain intensity in postcesarean section patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Methods: This study employed a descriptive case study approach involving five postcesarean section patients on the first day (H+1 post partum) experiencing acute pain. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and physical examination using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). The intervention provided was a combination of Benson relaxation therapy and lemongrass aromatherapy. Conclusion: The results showed that before the intervention, all patients experienced moderate pain, with scores ranging from 5 to 6. After the intervention, pain intensity decreased to a score of 3 (mild pain) in all patients. Recommendation: the combination of Benson relaxation therapy and lemongrass aromatherapy is effective in reducing pain intensity in post-cesarean section patients. Therefore, it can be used as a non-pharmacological nursing intervention to improve patient comfort and accelerate the recovery process
