Abstract

Background : Stroke is a disruption of brain function caused by impaired blood flow to the brain due to blockage or bleeding, which can lead to disability and even death. Patients with stroke often experience impaired physical mobility due to muscle weakness or hemiparesis, which reduces their ability to perform daily activities. One non-pharmacological intervention that can help improve muscle strength and restore motor function in stroke patients is mirror therapy Objective : This study aims to describe nursing care for patients with nonhemorrhagic stroke who experience physical mobility impairment in the Emergency Department of Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Hospital, Purwokerto Methods : This study used a descriptive method with a case study approach. The sample consisted of five patients with non-hemorrhagic stroke. The instruments used in this case study were the Mirror Therapy Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and observation sheets to assess the patients’ condition before and after the administration of mirror therapy Result: The nursing intervention was mirror therapy. After the mirror therapy intervention, all patients experienced increased muscle strength, with an average increase of 4 and 5 on the MMT observation sheet Conclusion : Mirror therapy can be used as an effective innovative intervention to improve muscle strength in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients with nursing problems of physical mobility impairment Recomendation : The results of this study can be independently applied by families of non-hemorrhagic stroke patients with physical mobility impairment to help improve muscle strength
