Abstract
Background: Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) is a condition of chest pain due to lack of oxygen to the heart muscle, causing the death of heart muscle cells. Benson relaxation, based on Orem's "self care" theory, is a relaxation method that can be assisted by nurses in a supportive-educative role, so that patients can use relaxation to reduce pain. Objective: To find out whether the Benson relaxation technique is effective for pain in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) clients in the ICCU room of Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto Hospital. Methods: This study uses a case study method. The subjects of this study were ACS patients with a diagnosis of acute pain. The instruments used were informed consent, Visual Analog Scale (VAS), and Benson Therapy SPO. Results: The results of the study found that the five respondents had the same nursing problems, namely chest pain, which were given Benson relaxation therapy. The results of providing nursing care using the Benson relaxation technique showed a decrease in the pain scale with an average pain before the action of 5.6 to 2 after the action. Recommendation: The results of this nursing care can be used as a reference to improve innovation related to therapy to reduce pain in Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) patients.
