Abstract
Background: Preeclampsia in pregnant women, with a global prevalence of 2–8% and an incidence in Indonesia of approximately 5.3% of all pregnancies, poses serious risks for both mothers and fetuses. Its exact cause remains unknown, with theories involving vascular, immunological, and genetic factors. Management includes pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies, such as soaking feet in warm water, proven effective in lowering blood pressure and reducing complications of preeclampsia. Objective: To analyze nursing care for patients with impaired peripheral tissue perfusion by applying a warm water foot soak with lemongrass aroma in preeclampsia patients. A descriptive qualitative design was used to implement nursing care involving warm water foot soaks with lemongrass aroma in five preeclampsia patients with impaired peripheral tissue perfusion in October 2024 in the Edelweis Room of RSUD KRT Setjonegoro Wonosobo. Results: The implementation showed that all patients were cooperative and willing to undergo the warm water foot soak as instructed. The results demonstrated a reduction in systolic and diastolic blood pressure before and after the intervention using warm water with lemongrass aroma. Conclusion: Based on the assessment of five preeclampsia patients, impaired peripheral tissue perfusion caused by hypertension, extremity edema, and anemia was identified. Nursing interventions, including warm water foot soaks, blood pressure management with antihypertensives, and vital sign monitoring, successfully reduced blood pressure and improved peripheral perfusion. The implementation showed patient condition improvements, with more stable vital signs. Evaluation confirmed the intervention's effectiveness, recommending it as part of preeclampsia management.
