Abstract

Background: Health supplement advertising is growing mainly through digital media such as social media, marketplaces, and websites. This condition increases the risk of advertisements appearing with excessive or misleading claims, so that it can harm the public. BPOM as a supervisory institution is tasked with ensuring that advertisements circulate in accordance with regulations. General Objectives: To find out how BPOM Tasikmalaya supervises health supplement advertisements that are not in accordance with regulations in 2023 as well as strategies for handling these advertising violations. The method: used is descriptive with qualitative methods. Data was obtained through interviews with BPOM Tasikmalaya advertising inspectors and review of supporting documents. The results of the Pharmacy care: analysis showed that BPOM Tasikmalaya supervised health supplement advertisements in various media, including print media, electronic media, outdoor media, and digital media such as websites, social media, and marketplaces. Health supplement advertisements supervised by BPOM Tasikmalaya as many as 96 advertisements (92.30%) met the requirements and 8 advertisements (7.69) did not meet the requirements. Recommendations: It is necessary to strengthen BPOM's collaboration with digital platforms, increase the literacy of business actors, and develop an automatic monitoring system to minimize the appearance of advertisements that do not comply with the provisions.
